The COVID-19 crisis has exacerbated the inequalities between men and women. Women make up 76% of the care workers across Europe while providing for most of the informal care at home.
As negotiator for Renew Europe on the report on a ‘gender perspective in the COVID-19 crisis and post-crisis period’, I have pledged for a gender-sensitive approach in all of our responses to this pandemic. This is necessary if we want to protect women’s rights.
During the plenary debate on 21 January, I called for joint action to ensure that we shape a post-COVID Europe that is truly gender-equal.
